The new 2020 Chevrolet Corvette will be helped by Michelin

We waited for it. Enthusiasts waited until late in the evening for the live unveiling of California on the evening of July 18th. The purists are a little shocked to see that the new mid-engine Corvette loses some of its Muscle car aura. But everyone is unanimous: this 8th generation Corvette is spectacular.

Under the hood (a little bit in the back, because, as you recall, the engine is almost in the center of the chassis), a 6.2-liter V8 engine called LT2 that develops just over 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, paired with a box 8-speed automatic with paddles on the steering wheel. The abandonment of the manual has not pleased the Corvette lovers either.

Michelin is the star

To deliver all this power to the rear wheels, Chevrolet has relied on the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S, performance tires whose quality is no longer to boast. In terms of longevity for example, according to Michelin’s claims, the new tire will last 2,300 kilometers longer than its closest competitor, the Pirelli P Zero Nero GT, and will literally double the life of the Continental Sportcontact 6.

These improvements are not the result of chance. The tire has a new gum component, more sophisticated groove designs (and nicer as confirmed by Michelin’s aesthetic design department), and the laced content of the tire that serves as sole and provides greater rigidity to ensure better contact. In short, the Michelin Sport 4S claims to be more than ever in front of it’s rivals.

Which explains the choice of Chevrolet. All this for tires of imposing dimensions: 305 / 30ZR20! The best way to stick to the road.

A race machine

In addition to its power, the new Corvette C8 has a personality of its own, closer to the Italian exotics than traditional Muscle car. With 60% of the weight in the rear, lots of carbon fiber components and an optional transparent Targa roof, the C8 is spectacular and efficient.

Magnetic suspensions, Z mode that enhances performance, and a range of advanced electronic assistance, the new Corvette promises to be a supercar. A supercar capable of 0-60 miles per hour in less than 3 seconds, with one of the nicest cockpit in the Chevrolet family, and not that expensive. In fact, the new Chevrolet Corvette C8 2020 will be available starting at $ 69,998.

But you will have to be a little patient, since it does not arrive until the end of the year!
