In those time of COVID-19 Pandemic, we must follow the guidelines for social distancing recommended by the public health authorities. If you need to use a vehicle to travel and go out for gas, here are some ideas and precautions to reduce the risk of getting infected with the virus or spreading it.

Wait in your vehicule
Stay in your car if you have to wait your turn before going to the pump and take the opportunity to listen to your favorite music to relax or enjoy a good coffee. Keep a safe distance from other customers to respect the social distancing instructions if you get out of your vehicle.

Pay at the pump
If you don’t need to buy other items, you can pay directly at the pump. If you are already familiar with it then that’s good for you! Prepare your credit card and loyalty card before you go at the gas pump.

Wear gloves
During your visit at the gas station (or electric charging station), wear gloves to avoid touching the pump or other objects. Ideally gloves that are strong enough not to tear. Do not throw the gloves on the floor but put them in a safe place or if you are using reusable gloves, remove them after filling the gasoline to make sure you do not touch your face afterwards with them.

Use contactless payment
Use contactless payment like PayPass with your credit card or smartphone and even with your Apple Watch if you have one. Some service station banners also offer payment cards.
Remain patient and courteous with the other clients
In these difficult times it is quite possible that our level of patience and anxiety will increase! Do not forget that we are all in the same situation and that a smile or a gesture of courtesy can help to appease others and especially to encourage a chain of positive gestures!

Clean the steering wheel
Use wet disinfectant wipes to clean your steering wheel, handles or other accessories that you touch frequently in your vehicle and that may be contaminated. It’s springtime, so why not take the opportunity to clean the whole car!
Stay cautious and compassionate during these difficult times and remember to wash your hands regularly. Each positive gesture attracts another.
